Tag Heuer (or actually just Heuer back then) first introduced the Monaco model in 1969 in honour of the Monaco Grand Prix and it was quite a revelation being the world's first automatic waterproof chronograph in a square case. The Heuer Monaco was ultimately made famous by Steve McQueen in the 1971 film "Le Mans". The Monaco was discontinued in the mid-1970s but reinstated in 1998. The iconic, and rather bold, square waterproof design is instantly recognisable and surely Tag Heuer's most famous line.
Geoff's comment: It can be hard to decide which Monaco is right for you - they made so many variants after all (perhaps too many). This one is a real beauty, and extremely rare in the combination of striking silver dial and brown crocodile leather strap. Try and find another one like this for sale. You will struggle. Can a luxury watch be elegant and sporty in equal measure? Buy this incredible value watch and you will find the answer to be a resounding yes.
